Ahsay backup software – tomcat issue

December 30, 2009

At work we use Ahsay. Its a really flexible backup piece and can be very verbose but at a cost. We charge our clients to use our backups. Its sits on a 10MB pipe with 2 SAN’s and a replication server. Just found out we havent been backing up our clients the last week. Our trusty network monitoring didnt alert us.

I had to SSH into the server to find out somehow the installation had been corrupted. Ahsay uses TomCat cause it serves up java application. The whole freakin TomCat directory was missing. Not really knowing much about Ahsay and in their documention starts saying “look in this directory” and I dont have it, thats not good. Luckily, I just had the initial setup files which have the TomCat directory, did a simple copy command and we are back in business.

I checked logs, couldnt find anything that would state why the tomcat directory decided to leave. Checked ahsay’s support forum, nothing there either. i did post a thread to see if anyone else has an idea. we shall see.
